Most organizations are still struggling with developing and implementing comprehensive, systematic and defensible electronic records management and discovery programs for their own internal data sets. Few understand or have addressed the additional issues presented when their electronic data is held by third-party providers and/or agents.
The objective of this session is to provide participants with a proactive approach to address the comprehensive management of their electronic records that are in the hands of third parties.
Participants will learn how to develop effective tools in order to:
- Identify specific third-party data issues and problems facing the organization.
- Identify contractual opportunities to influence third parties.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for both the organization and third parties to follow to reduce risk.
- Develop and implement an audit process to ensure that third parties are properly adhering to the organization's rules.
- Develop and implement an electronic discovery program related to the organization's electronic data held by third parties.
- Define priorities and an action plan.
- Gain senior-level support and buy-in.
