Shared drives are full of content, but most organizations and users have no idea which of these files constitutes records. The volume and complexity of the problem is vast, therefore this company has a problem which poses a serious challenge. Some want to solve the problem by moving everything to SharePoint. Management and legal staff must be committed to adopt a "clean up" approach that ensures regulatory and legal compliance.
This session presents a case study of how a major international energy company tackled the challenge of cleaning up shared drives and derived significant benefits from this effort.
You will learn how a major global energy company:
Completed a high level assessment of three pilot departments as a proof of concept
Used auto classification/crawler software to identify and tag valuable content
Worked with departments to develop information management plans
Determined the impact on users in helping them clean up and migrate records to SharePoint
Implemented quality control
